NDIS Amendment Bill passes House of Reps

The National Disability Insurance Scheme Amendment (Getting the NDIS Back on Track No. 1) Bill 2024, tabled in parliament in late March, was passed by the House of Representatives on 5 June after a range of new parliamentary amendments were proposed by the Government.

These amendments follow on from previous changes that clarified the way in which the Act would define an NDIS support.

While there is still a long way to go before the Bill becomes law — the Community Affairs Legislation Committee are still to finalise their report and the Bill must be passed by the Senate — the proposed amendments go some way to addressing key concerns raised by the disability community and sector. NDS is pleased to see some of the recommendations we made in our submission on the Bill reflected in the changes and will be following the passage the legislation closely.
