Due to the ongoing impact of the COVID-19 pandemic in Western Australia and the significant pressure this is placing on the WA disability sector, NDS has made the decision to delay this year's Disability Support Awards.

While we are disappointed to make this decision, we have a wider responsibility to prioritise the health of people with disability and to support the disability sector to focus on their organisations’ response to COVID-19 during this time.

At this stage, we anticipate opening the nominations for the Disability Support Awards in December 2022, with the event to be held in April/May 2023.

The Disability Support Awards recognise those who go beyond ordinary standards of service and have a profound impact on the lives of the people they work with and support. The Disability Support Awards also showcase the disability sector as a place of innovation, employment and career opportunities.

We know that COVID-19 is placing additional pressures on an already tight disability sector workforce.  Please help us continue to promote the achievements of support workers and the sector during this time. We encourage members to highlight stories on social media and tag @DisabilitySupportAwards so that we can share and help amplify your messages.

Through these challenging times, NDS remains committed to supporting initiatives that aim to grow and strengthen the disability workforce. Our ThinkSupport campaign focuses on attracting younger workers to employment in the disability services sector. We urge members to share their recruitment efforts, tagging #thinksupport to raise awareness of this initiative.

NDS also intends to proceed with the WA Lunch in celebration of International Day of People with Disability in December. Members will be notified when tickets are available.
