Federal Budget 2024–25 is a missed opportunity

The 2024–25 Federal Budget is a missed opportunity for government to support quality disability services and provide much-needed confidence to a sector in crisis.

Inadequate pricing and spiralling costs have already seen many good quality providers closing their disability services in the past 12 months.

As we start to see reform measures, such as the Getting the NDIS Back on Track legislation, rolled out without the necessary detail for the sector to fully understand its implications, uncertainty surrounds key elements of NDIS and disability sector reform. And while reform to the NDIS is absolutely needed, the disability community will be anxious to understand how NDIS budget savings of $14.4 billion over the next four years will be achieved.
