Government responds to RC COVID-19 recommendations

Reads: Royal Commission update

29/04/2021

The Australian Government has responded to the Disability Royal Commission’s COVID-19 report, supporting or supporting in principle 21 recommendations and ‘noting’ one.

The response steps through each recommendation, in places making the argument that action has already been undertaken. ‘Noted’ is the recommendation that the NDIS Commissioner’s policies and practices should reflect its powers and responsibilities to protect the safety and wellbeing of NDIS participants during emergencies. The Government asserts this warrants further consideration of the terms of the NDIS Act, and that a review of the Quality and Safeguarding Framework will begin in 2021-22.
