Today, the Royal Commission hearing on barriers to open employment considered reasonable adjustments, perverse incentives, and the satisfaction of employment.

Two witnesses with disability reflected on their careers. A witness with a rare neuromuscular condition said his parents' high expectations contributed to his decision to become a solicitor. He said he had downplayed his disability so as not to appear a 'burden' in the competitive legal sector, which was sometimes inflexible.
