What you need to know

  • NDS and the Interim Disability Commissioner are hosting two listening sessions on Thursday 29 February for disability providers.
  • You can register to take part online from 9:00am or face to face in Hobart from 10:30am.
  • These sessions will help inform the Tasmanian Government as it prepares its response to the Disability Royal Commission (DRC).
  • Separate sessions are being held for people with disability.

After nearly five years of investigation, the final report and recommendations of the Royal Commission into Violence, Abuse, Neglect and Exploitation of People with Disability were handed to the Governor–General on 28 September.

The Royal Commissioners recommended that the Australian Government respond to their recommendations by 31 March.

To ensure the Tasmanian Government’s response reflects the needs of Tasmania providers, NDS and the Interim Disability Commissioner are hosting two listening sessions on Thursday 29 February, one online and one face to face, to hear which recommendations matter most to Tasmanian disability providers.

We are keen to hear your views on the opportunities, challenges and concerns from the recommendation in the final report.

DRC Listening Sessions

Face to Face: Thursday 29 February at 10:30 to 11:30am at WOTSO Hobart — Devil's Lair, Ground Floor, 162 Macquarie St, Hobart.
