The Department of Health has released its latest COVID-19 Vaccination alert detailing important information regarding booster vaccinations for the disability sector.

Highlights from the latest COVID-19 Vaccination alert include:

  • Booster vaccinations: People with disability are now eligible for a booster dose three months after they have completed their two primary doses of a COVID-19 vaccine. A booster vaccination with the Pfizer vaccine is recommended by ATAGI for individuals aged 16 to 17 years who received their primary vaccinations at least three months ago.
  • Fourth dose of the vaccine: individuals aged 16 – 17 years who are immunocompromised are eligible to receive a fourth dose of the Pfizer vaccine three months after their third dose was administered.
  • Vaccination hubs: Additional vaccination hubs offering services specific for people with disability, their carers and disability workers will be available over the coming weeks.
  • Access to boosters: NDIS providers are strongly encouraged to make necessary arrangements to facilitate participants’ access to COVID-19 vaccinations, including boosters. Booster doses can be accessed through in-reach or dedicated disability hubs, GPs, pharmacies and dedicated state vaccination clinics.
