NDS welcomes the substantial mental health package ($163 million over 4 years) in South Australia’s budget but we suspect that many people with disability will be left wondering: What about me?

In light of the tragic death of Ann Marie Smith and the subsequent inquiries, NDS was hopeful of funding for measures to help ensure South Australians with disability could live safely and fulfil their potential as equal citizens. The inclusion of $500,000 towards the development of a safeguarding smartphone app risks being seen as tokenistic and of limited impact for people who need safeguarding in our community.
