NSW Statewide Intellectual Disability Mental Health Hubs Launch

The NSW Ministry of Health is launching two new Statewide Intellectual Disability Mental Health Hubs (IDMH). The IDMH have been established to support Local Health Districts (LHDs) and Specialty Health Networks in offering tailored, evidence-based care to people with intellectual disability and complex mental health problems across NSW and are now operational.

These new Hubs are:

  • The Statewide Intellectual Disability Mental Health Outreach Service (SIDMHOS), hosted by Sydney Local Health District, and
  • The Sydney Children’s Hospital Network Mental Health and Intellectual Disability Hub (SCHN MHID Hub) hosted by Sydney Children’s Hospital Network.

IDMH Launch

The Hubs will be launched in a free webinar next week to support participants and providers to understand how to access the Hubs.  In addition, the NSW Ministry of Health will share information on the range of services and resources available to support LHDs improve the mental health care of people with intellectual and developmental disability in NSW.

Speakers include the Hon. Bronnie Taylor, Minister for Mental Health, Women and Regional Youth; Professor Julian Trollor, Chair Intellectual Disability Mental Health, University of NSW; and representatives of the IDMH Hubs.
