New COVID-19 advice for NSW disability services

NSW Health has provided advice to disability providers related to the outbreak of COVID-19 in South Western Sydney.

NSW Disability Services are advised to exclude visitors and staff with symptoms, or who have been in a location linked to COVID-19 (see NSW Government latest news and updates for an up to date list of these locations).  In addition, visitors who have been in Victoria, or in the local government areas of Fairfield, Liverpool, Campbelltown, Camden, Wingecarribee and Wollondilly in the past 14 days should also be excluded . Advice to staff who live in these areas is that they should wear a mask however, those providing support to medically vulnerable residents must wear surgical masks.

NSW Health is also currently recommending that where services are being provided both inside and outside of a residential facility (e.g. day programs), staff who reside in South West Sydney should wear a mask while providing care to residents.

Providers that operate in South West Sydney

In addition, disability service providers that operate in South West Sydney should limit visitors, and all staff should wear surgical mask. Those staff working with medically vulnerable residents must wear a surgical mask.

This advice will be reviewed and further guidance will be provided if these measures need to continue after July.

As the situation relating to COVID-19 continues to evolve and change, providers should check the NSW Health website regularly.  Additional public health information is available from your local NSW Health public health unit on 1300 066 055 or from NSW Health website
