ACT COVID-19 update: Boosters mandated for ACT disability support workers

ACT Health now requires all disability support workers in the ACT to have a booster dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, in addition to the two primary doses in order to be considered fully vaccinated. This will come into effect on 28 March 2022.

This amendment applies to all disability care, residential aged care, and in-home and community aged-care workers. It requires staff to receive their booster vaccination 3 months (and no more than six months) after completion of their primary vaccination course.

Organisations are asked to encourage employees to access a booster vaccine as soon as they become eligible. The infographic Have You Had a Covid-19 Vaccination Booster provides information on the benefits of having a Covid-19 booster shot.

Staff that do not comply with this Direction will be prevented from working until they receive their booster vaccine or are issued a temporary exemption.

More information about temporary exemptions is available at the ACT Health website: Information for employees that require vaccination
