What you need to know

  • Registrations are open for Mental Health and Wellbeing Sector Forums in May.
  • Five forums will be held: three in-person (Melbourne, Morwell and Bendigo) and two online (one has already sold out).
  • Set up by the Victorian Department of Health, the forums are sector-wide discussions about the mental health and wellbeing transformation program and priorities for the year ahead.
  • People with lived experience, those with interests in the mental health system, and disability workers are welcome.

Disability providers, people with disabilities and their families, and support workers are invited to the Mental Health and Wellbeing Division Forums to be held in May by the Victorian Department of Health.  The sector-wide forums will concentrate on the Victorian mental health and wellbeing transformation process and discuss shared priorities for the next stage of reform.

These forums are the first in an ongoing series to develop shared priorities for the long-term strategy for system transformation.

The Mental Health and Wellbeing Division wants to hear directly from people with lived and living experience of the mental health system, workers in clinical or community mental health services, and those working in other sectors that support the transformation process (education and legal services, for example).

Representatives from the disability sector can share their experiences of supporting people with disabilities and having their co-occurring mental health needs identified to receive appropriate services.

NDS is working to make the Victorian mental health and wellbeing transformation more responsive to the needs of people from diverse backgrounds, including those with non-psychosocial disability.

For more information and to register, go to the webpage for each session:

For further information about the forums, please contact the Stakeholders and Partnerships team in the Mental Health and Wellbeing Division at mhwd.engagement@health.vic.gov.au.

If you are interested in any of these events and ticket limits have been reached, please let NDS know by emailing Kym Vassiliou  submit enquiry/feedback and we will discuss other options with the Mental Health and Wellbeing Division.
