NDS in WA makes a submission to the reform of the WA Disability Legislation

Western Australia’s thirty-year-old disability legislation is to be reformed to promote inclusion, safety and ensure rights. With the adoption of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UNCRPD) and the introduction of the NDIS, the disability sector has changed enormously. The WA legislation no longer reflects community attitudes nor how services are delivered. In March, the government announced a review and asked for submissions.

NDS in WA made its submission based on insights from local disability service providers. We wanted to ensure the complexity of the disability sector is considered, while also ensuring the legislation protects and promotes the rights of people with disabilities.
