This essential course will simplify the way you document and give you the skills to document the support you provide in a way which is accurate, legally defensible, and improves outcomes for the people you support.

This workshop is in partnership with Preventing Harm Initiative (PHI) and is facilitated by Donny Raets, via Zoom.

Instructor Led Training via Zoom

Duration: Three hours
Course outcomes:

  • Legal requirements of progress/case note documentation
  • Correct language and words to communicate factual information respectfully
  • Understand privacy laws and what you can and can't identify in your notes
  • Tips for simplifying documentation and ensuring it’s relevant and reader friendly
  • The recommended FACT method format for documenting care, goal orientated support, risks, incidents, and complaints
  • Practice writing defensible notes

  • Know what to write to achieve the best outcomes for participants, your organisation and yourself.
  • Demonstrate compliance with funding and NDIS requirements

Donny holds a Diploma of Teaching, Cert IV Training and Assessment, Cert IV Aged and Community Care and has 30 plus years’ experience in education, ranging from Primary through to Tertiary (Vocational Education and Training), remote Indigenous Communities and the Corporate sector.

Who should attend?

NDS recommends that Managers, Team Leaders, Support Workers and anyone who needs to report or document client notes within disability service organisations are most suited to attend.
