This workshop is in partnership with and facilitated by Preventing Harm Initiative (PHI).

Improve the quality and safety of care by knowing what your risk management system should include to achieve effective clinical governance and meet quality standards.

This course will step you though the components of a risk management system and how to use it to monitor risk to demonstrate accountability for ensuring safe high quality care.

Instructor Led Training (ILT) via Zoom or face-to-face at your organsisation (travel charged at cost)

Duration: 3 hours
Course outcomes:

  • Know the expected risk management documentation to have in place
  • Gain ideas for checking if your service has a culture of risk awareness and accountability
  • Learn the best practice risk management processes that comply with the International Standard for risk management and quality standards for aged and disability services
  • Understand the expected processes for risk escalation, communication and reporting
  • Discover ways to use Risk Registers to enable effective clinical governance
  • Gain awareness of clinical governance accountabilities for risk management decision making and the role of committees
  • Gain case study practice in organisational risk management decision making

This workshop is in partnership with Preventing Harm Initiative (PHI) and facilitated by Donny Raets.

Donny holds a Diploma of Teaching, Cert IV Training and Assessment, Cert IV Aged and Community Care and has 30 plus years’ experience in education, ranging from Primary through to Tertiary (Vocational Education and Training), remote Indigenous Communities and the Corporate sector. Her  CALD background and training in the Arts support her creation and delivery of meaningful learning experiences.

Who should attend?

NDS recommends that Senior managers and Risk and Quality managers within disability service organisations are most suited to attend.
