Royal Commission presses Chair of Board on former CEO’s conduct
20/05/2022
On the final hearing day, evidence continued from Affordâs recently-appointed CEO and the Chair of its Board. The Royal Commission (RC) continued to express its concerns about the organisationâs prioritisation of growth and profit, and interrogated if this had changed since the resignation of the previous CEO last year.Â
As in previous disability services hearings, the RC showed an interest in reports from CEO to Board. The witnesses were taken through several of the previous CEOâs Board reports, and invited to reflect on the focus, tone and potential omissions. The Board Chair agreed that the focus was overly focused on financial matters, and that tone was inappropriate at times and self-congratulatory.Â
