RC hears of deteriorating relationship and intent to withdraw services

The Royal Commission heard today of a notice to terminate support, following a deteriorating relationship between a provider and a family, and allegations of violence and verbal abuse.

This week evidence will be given about the experiences of three residents of a group home run by Sunnyfield, and the responses of the provider, the NDIS Commission and NSW Ombudsman.

The hearing will go to issues including governance, employee screening, thin markets in disability accommodation, conflict of interest, and right to cease service provision. Allegations of violence and verbal abuse will feature.
