DRC releases issues paper on First Nations people

10/06/2020
The Disability Royal Commission has released an issues paper focusing on the experiences of First Nations people with disability. The paper considers the experiences of First Nations people with disability across their lives, including in transitioning between major life stages; and in interacting with various systems, such as the NDIS, health, justice and education.
The Commission is interested in the intersection between disability and Aboriginality which may lead to âdouble discriminationâ, as well as the promise in community-led solutions. Questions include how a First Nations disability sector could be developed and sustained.
