Tell us about the State of the Disability Sector
The NDS annual State of the Disability Sector survey (previously known as the Annual Market Survey) is now open!
We are calling for you to help tell the story of our sector at this crucial time. Your feedback will shape government policy, inform media coverage, and contribute to positive reform of the disability sector. Your views matter!
The survey is conducted in partnership with the University of Sydney and is now in its ninth year. This is our major tool to capture your views on the state of disability policy and the operating environment.
The results of the State of the Disability Sector survey, along with our Workforce Census, are published in the annual NDS State of the Disability Sector Report, released at the NDS CEOs Meeting in November.
The report is extensively referred to by the media, government, and key players in our sector. The State of the Disability Sector Report helps inform our advocacy in a way no other industry survey does.
The NDS Workforce Census collects data on the employment of disability support workers and allied health workers and provides unique insights into the workforce for the State of the Disability Sector report.
We now have a single registration for the State of the Disability Sector survey and Workforce Census to help you share your insights. Simply register below and choose one survey or both.
Who should complete the State of the Disability Sector survey?
The State of the Disability Sector survey should be completed by the CEO or a member of your senior management team, or the business owner if you are a sole proprietor. The survey takes approximately 30 minutes.
Who should complete the Workforce Census?
The Workforce Census (focusing on disability support workers and allied health workers who work in the disability sector) is a short ten-point questionnaire about workforce matters. It fills a crucial data gap in Australia. It is best completed by your head of human resources or finance. The survey takes approximately ten minutes.
Independent analysis and reporting
The State of the Disability Sector survey analysis and reporting is conducted independently by the Centre for Disability Research and Policy at The University of Sydney, led by Professor Jennifer Smith-Merry and her research team.
Surveys close on Friday, 23 September 2022.
