Quality and Safeguards in the NDIS: A NSW Provider Guide
This guide maps the current NDIS Commission requirements against the previous NSW Quality and Safeguarding Framework under the NSW State Government.
It was developed to be an easy, go-to reference for NSW providers, which identifies all the new requirements the NDIS Commission places on NDIS-registered providers that need to complete certification against the NDIS Commission Practice Standards and meet the NDIS Commission’s rules.
Key benefit points
- Assists providers to self assess thier compliance with the NDIS Commission Quality and Safeguarding requirements
- Promotes a human rights approach to quality and safeguarding
- The Guide is not prescriptive, and applies to a wide range of organisations and service types.
Who is this for?
This resource is aimed at providers with limited experience or knowledge of NDIS Commission requirements or those NSW providers who are wanting to review their systems against the key requirements of the NDIS Quality and Safeguarding Framework.
Compliance helps to promote the human rights of people with disability and is especially important in preventing harm to people who are receiving support. Many providers will choose to go beyond mere compliance with minimum practice standards and some of the other safeguarding mechanisms the NDIS Commission uses to facilitate safe, respectful and inclusive support provision.
The scope of the guide is the Core Module and Module 2A, as these modules are the ones that affect most NDS members. Of course, similar action items arise across the modules.
