School-based Traineeships in Disability Support Work

A teacher demonstrating something to a school student

This project aims to support the recruitment and workforce of young people to meet the expectations of people with disability, and to increase the number of disability service organisations offering school-based traineeships.

We liaise with schools through the delivery of projectABLE workshops. Students who are interested in working in the sector can then explore next steps towards employment in disability work.

This project links interested schools and students to local Registered Training Organisations who support school-based traineeships in disability work.

Key benefit points

  • Attracting potential staff into the sector
  • Raising awareness of disability
  • Creation of links between students, schools and local disability service providers

Who is this for?

School students in years 10-12, schools particularly teachers and career advisers and Registered Training Organisations.
