NDS contributes to SCHADS Award Review
- NDS and Jobs Australia have been working together to present evidence that informs the Fair Work Commission of the reality of the NDIS operating environment.

Fair Work Commission (FWC) hearings have commenced for the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry (SCHADS) award. NDS and Jobs Australia have been working together to present evidence that informs the FWC about the workforce management challenges associated with the NDIS.
We are seeking additional flexibilities for permanent workers that will help enable the growth of attractive, secure jobs in the NDIS environment and reduce unnecessary reliance on casualisation and contracting of the disability support workforce.
The Full Bench has now heard from NDS Chief Executive Ken Baker and several members about trends in rosters, the content and location of work, pricing and the rate of cancellations and rescheduling under the Scheme.
All of these have implications for award provisions, including those concerning rostering, part-time engagements and on-call arrangements.
Hearings are continuing. The below update provides information about decisions so far, issues, progress and the timetable over the coming months.
The information will help inform providers who are making decisions about workforce management and workplace bargaining.
