Business Confidence Report July

16/08/2015

A report on the Business Confidence Survey results from 2014 is now available. Key highlights include:

Business confidence within disability service organisations was moderately high and remained steady throughout 2014, although confidence in the sector as a whole was less optimistic.

Confident and less confident organisations did not show any difference in either their size or state or territory of operation, however organisations that were registered for the NDIS had greater business confidence than other organisations.

Most organisations were looking to pursue growth strategies, however insufficient financial and other organisational resources remains a barrier.

Levels of casual staff are increasing, while CEOs are finding allied health staff and leaders and managers difficult to recruit.

Support for reforms remains steady despite uncertainty and confusion about the policy environment

Only 1 in 10 CEOs think that governments are responding to or anticipating their requirements

Invitation to participate in Wave Three

NDS invites Members to participate in Wave Three. The need to track Business Confidence comes at a crucial time when the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is escalating from trial sites to national roll out, and related reforms in employment services are taking shape. An invitation to participate in the 15 minute survey will be sent tomorrow from NDS's research partner BMG Research. Member CEOs who do not receive an email and wish to participate in the survey should contact Monica O'Neill at submit enquiry/feedback (02 9256 3191).

The 2014 survey results help to illuminate the magnitude of the risks associated with the planning and implementation of current disability reforms. The results were incorporated into the NDS 2014 State of the Disability Sector report, and received widespread coverage.

The results of Wave Three will be presented at the NDS CEO meeting in December and in State of the Disability Sector 2015, with a full report incorporating Wave Three results to follow in the new year.
