WA COVID-19 Update: lockdown to end for Perth and Peel

What you need to know

  • Effective 12.01am Saturday 3 July, Perth’s COVID-19 lockdown will end. Masks to be worn unless exempt.
  • No visitors to aged and disability facilities and hospitals, except for compassionate reasons and advocacy
  • No visitors to residential aged care and/or disability facilities except for exceptional circumstances such as essential care, compassionate reasons, end of life and advocacy.
  • Online information sessions about the COVID-19 vaccine rollout are being run throughout July

Effective 12.01am Saturday, 3 July Perth’s COVID-19 lockdown will end, while a number of interim restrictions will remain in place for three days until 12:01am Tuesday, 6 July.

Of note for WA disability service providers:

  • Masks to be worn indoors and at outdoor public places, while at work and on public transport, unless exempt or for outdoor vigorous exercise;
  • No visitors to aged and disability facilities and hospitals, except for compassionate reasons and advocacy;
  • No visitors to residential aged care and/or disability facilities except for exceptional circumstances such as essential care, compassionate reasons, end of life and advocacy;
  • No visitors to hospitals except for compassionate reasons, end of life, accompanying a child or supporting a partner giving birth;
  • Category 2 and 3 elective surgeries postponed until Friday, 9 July; and
  • People who can work from home or remotely, are encouraged to do so.

Other remaining restrictions

  • Intrastate travel restrictions apply;
  • Limit of 10 visitors to all homes;
  • Limit of 20 people for private outdoor gatherings;
  • Four square metre capacity rule and 20 patron limit for hospitality venues, beauty services, places of worship, fitness venues;
  • Public venues such as recreation centres, outdoor playgrounds, museums, swimming pools can open with the four square metre capacity rule and 20 patron limit in place;
  • Universities, TAFEs and training services can reopen; and
  • Weddings and funerals can proceed with up to 20 guests.

Following this upcoming three-day period, further eased transitional restrictions will take effect at 12:01am 6 July and will remain in place until 12:01am Monday 12 July - pending ongoing health advice.

COVID-19 Vaccines — Information session for frontline community services

Frontline community services employees are invited to attend an online information session about the COVID-19 vaccine rollout, hosted by the Department of Communities, WACOSS and Shelter WA.

Who?

This session is designed for people who are at the forefront of providing guidance and information to vulnerable members of our community.

What?

WA Health experts will talk about vaccine safety, side effects, how and where vulnerable people can get vaccinated, and give you facts to challenge some of the common myths. There will be a question and answer session so you can address anything that you may have already been asked, but just didn’t have the right information to answer.

When?

This will be the same session each week

  • Friday, 9 July at 10.00am-11.00am
  • Thursday, 15 July at 2.30pm-3.30pm
  • Wednesday, 21 July at 3.30pm-4.30pm
  • Tuesday, 27 July 9.00am-10.00am
