Plan for Plastics information and feedback sessions

A support worker sitting with a person with disability in a cafe

15/07/2021

The WA State Government is taking action to reduce the impacts of disposable plastics on the environment, waste streams and health. NDS has representation on the Plastic Straws Working Group helping to develop regulatory exemptions to ensure ongoing access for individuals with disability who require single-use plastic items such as straws to maintain quality of life or for whom alternatives or going without are not appropriate.

The Department of Water and Environmental Regulation is hosting stakeholder information and feedback sessions on the implementation of stage one of Western Australia's Plan for Plastics.

Twelve workshops will be held in multiple locations in Perth, Peel, regional areas and online during July and August 2021.

The workshops will provide information on the items proposed to be banned, implementation actions and timeframes for delivery. The sessions will provide an opportunity to share your views, what needs to be in place for the change, and identify the support required to adapt to the phase-out of stage one items listed in the Plan.

NDS members are encouraged to share information about these sessions with people with disability and their families.

To attend one of the sessions please register
