The WA Government is accepting applications for new members of the Ministerial Advisory Council on Disability.

Comprised of up to 14 members, including people with disability and people with experience in matters relevant to people with disability, the Council plays an integral role within the disability sector and the wider community.

“The Ministerial Advisory Council on Disability plays an important part in providing the WA Government with advice on issues relating to disability in Western Australia,” Hon Don Punch MLA, Minister for Disability Services said.

Notable work of the Council includes assistance in the development of ‘A Western Australia for Everyone - State Disability Strategy 2020-2030’ and contribution to the Plastic Straws Working Group.

Minister Punch noted the importance of diversity in the search for new members to ensure all people with disability, their families and carers are represented.

“I invite anyone who believes they can contribute to the important work of the Council to submit an application and strongly encourage people from diverse cultural and social backgrounds - including Aboriginal people, people from regional and remote parts of the State, as well as young people - to apply,” Minister Punch said.

“I am looking forward to working with a dedicated and impassioned group of people who are committed to promoting the human rights of people with disability, their families and carers.”

Applications close at 4.00pm on Friday, 6 August 2021. To apply, or for more information, visit the Communities website
