Working group to deliver employment options for Activ supported employees
24/05/2022
National Disability Services (NDS) acknowledges the unsettling nature of the recently announced closure of Activ supported employment worksites. We recognise the meaningful work and significant contribution these people have made to the WA community over many years.
As a matter of urgency, NDS is working with nine supported employment providers in WA to ensure these individuals facing redundancy have a range of options to choose from going forward.
These providers are committed to supporting the individuals affected and have knowledge and experience in the provision of quality employment options for people with disability in Western Australia. We are currently gathering information from these providers about the types of opportunities that might be possible. We intend to provide this information to affected employees in the next week. We know the Activ news has caused great concern, not only to the affected employees and their families, but also to supported employees working in other enterprises and more broadly for NDS members and their staff.NDS is committed to advocating to Government for more support for Australian Disability Enterprises through full transition to the NDIS.
