NDS is seeking comments on the draft regulatory exemptions for people with disability for the future implementation of the single-use plastic straw ban in WA. The exemptions have been developed by the WA Government's Plastic Straws Working Group (PSWG) whose role is to provide input into the development of actions to reduce the use of plastic straws.

The PSWG are consulting with the disability, health, aged care, retail, hospitality and environment sectors to shape the exemptions and allow ongoing access for people requiring straws to meet their life needs. Your comments on the regulations can assist to make sure Government actions are well-considered and do not have unintended adverse consequences.
