Victorian guardianship and administration laws come under scrutiny from the Royal Commission

24/11/2022
In Day Three of Public Hearing 30: Guardianship, substituted and supported decision-making, the Commission heard from two people with lived experience, a legal rights worker and the Public Trustees from Victoria.  Â
The day began with two powerful stories from people with disability who were subject to guardianship or financial administration orders. Uli Cartwright told the Commission that he felt silenced and 'like a number' under financial administration by the State Trustees. Mr Cartwright was living in a group home when a support worker, without informing him, applied for his finances to be taken over by the State Trustees.  Â
