Support Worker Testing

The disability sector is one of several that the Victorian Government is working with to help stop the spread of COVID-19.

All disability support workers residing or working in Dandenong, Casey and surrounding areas are encouraged to get tested for COVID-19, whether or not they currently display symptoms. Tests will be provided on a priority basis at DHHS funded clinics [PDF]. Individuals should identify themselves as disability support workers.

Importantly, disability support workers without symptoms are authorised by DHHS, in this circumstance, to continue working and do not need to remain at home until test results are received.

Accessing PPE

NDS continues to monitor reports of any issues with quality or supply of PPE. Please contact the Safer and Stronger project team if you are experiencing problems with accessing the PPE you need.

As a reminder, disability services who cannot access PPE supplies through their usual channels can contact the National Medical Stockpile (NMS) by emailing . Failing this, Victorian providers can request PPE through DHHS by emailing . All requests will be triaged with priority given where there is a confirmed case of COVID-19.

Remember, NDS members may also access PPE stock at member-only rates through the member-only section of NDS's Coronavirus hub.

Business Victoria has also compiled a list of PPE suppliers.

DHHS announced the availability of 2.1 million reusable face masks for vulnerable Victorians, including people with disability. Service providers can order these for their clients via the online form.
