NDS was saddened to hear of the tragic passing of Leonie Jackson on 17 January 2021 and we send our condolences to her family and friends, colleagues and the Deaf community that she was such a vital part of.

Prior to taking on the role as Executive Manager, Advocacy and Strategic Partnerships in the newly merged Deaf Services and Deaf Society, Leonie was the CEO of the Deaf Society.

A passionate leader in the Deaf community and the disability sector more broadly, Leonie was also a great supporter of NDS. As an active member of our various Committees, particularly those with a focus on children and their families, Leonie was always generous with her time and willing to share her knowledge and expertise both with NDS and with her colleagues in the sector.

Leonie will be greatly missed by all who had the opportunity to know and work with her.
