The Australian: NDIS cost hikes fault of government, advocates say

Laurie Leigh, interim chief executive of NDS, said any proposed cuts to the NDIS should consider the social and economic benefits the scheme brings.
Ahead of the mid-year economic outlook, the federal government has slated the costs of the NDIS will increase by $26bn over the next four years.
Laurie Leigh, interim chief executive of NDS, said any proposed cuts should consider the social and economic impact. Leigh described the NDIS as a “great social and economic reform” that has transformed the lives of hundreds of thousands of people and delivered $2.25 back to the economy for every dollar spent.
Samantha Connor from People with Disability Australia said the cost blowout was a “fairytale” and simply untrue. Opposition leader, Bill Shorten, blamed any cost increases on the Morrison government’s mismanagement.
