The Rules for funding Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) within
the NDIS have been presented to Parliament. If no disallowance motion is received within
15 sitting days, the Rules automatically become law. It is pleasing that SDA
payments will soon start to flow.
The SDA Rules define eligibility to receive SDA funding;
the types of dwellings that can be used for SDA (covering new buildings,
existing stock and legacy stock); and the registration of SDA providers. SDA is
a narrowly-targeted payment: to be eligible, participants must have an ‘extreme
functional impairment’ or ‘very high support needs’.
