Seeking feedback on the Victorian Inquiry into access to TAFE for learners with disability
21/09/2020
The Victorian Government is inquiring into how to improve access to TAFE for learners with disability. The Victorian Legislative Assembly’s Economy and Infrastructure Committee is interested in hearing about the experiences of learners with disability in TAFE, and exploring what can be done to increase the participation of learners with disability.
Issues being examined by the Inquiry are:
- Barriers faced by learners with disability when trying to access and participate in TAFE
- The types of support learners with disability need to maximise their learning experience at TAFE
- The training and support TAFE teachers need to better assist students with disability
- Broader strategies to increase the participation of learners with disability in TAFE courses.
NDS's Ticket to Work initiative is preparing a submission. Ticket to Work focuses on improving school to work pathways for young people with significant disability and will concentrate the submission on the experience of assisting students with disability in transitioning from secondary school to open employment and the role of TAFE.
