The Department of Social Services (DSS) has released Guidelines to organisations which registered an interest in providing Disability Employment Services (DES) from mid-2018. The grant application process is being undertaken in two stages. The first stage – registration – was completed in late August.Stage Two is an invitation-only process open to registered entities seeking to provide DES from mid-2018, including existing DES providers that receive an Invitation to Treat (ITT). In addition, DSS may approach suitable organisations to deliver services where a lack of coverage has been identified following the completion of the assessment process. NDS welcomes the streamlined application process, which is less onerous than previous purchasing exercises. Applicants who receive and accept an ITT do not need to respond to Criterion 1: Management and Governance even if they are applying for additional business. Other entities intending to apply must address all four criteria but do not need to duplicate information for each of ESA.The assessment criteria are:

In addressing Criterion 4, entities need only provide one response for metropolitan areas and one for regional areas regardless of how many ESAs they intend to cover. The Grants Application period and Invitation to Treat period will close at 2.00pm (AEST) on 24 October 2017.Applications will be assessed from late October until January 2018. Grant agreements will be negotiated and awarded from late January 2018 and service gaps will be assessed from January until late March 2018. The DES Grant Opportunity Guidelines include a comprehensive Statement of Requirements for applicants, including details of the DES program and how it is to be delivered by service providers.Enquiries on the Grant Opportunity Process can be made through the Community Grants Hub by phone on 1800 020 283 or by email to open for National Panel of AssessorsApplications to join the National Panel of Assessors (NPA) are now being sought. Successful applicants will be offered panel membership for five years as a result of this process. The NPA provides independent assessment services that help meet the needs of people with disability in the workplace.
