Hearings scheduled for rest of 2020
The Disability Royal Commission has released a schedule of hearings for the rest of 2020, beginning with a hearing from 18 to 21 August focussing on the impact of COVID-19 on people with disability. Further details are in NDS's news update. August 18-21: Experience of people with disability during COVID-19. September: Psychotropic medication, behaviour support and behaviours of concern. October:Â Barriers to students with disability accessing high-quality school education. November (week beginning 16th):Â Long-term detention and interactions with the criminal justice system experienced by people with disability. November (week beginning 23rd):Â First Nations people with disability and child protection. December (TBC): Training of health care professionals regarding people with cognitive disability. December (TBC): Systemic barriers to employment. To date, the Commission has received 1,213 submissions and 254 responses to issues papers.
