This week’s hearing comes from Alice Springs and is focused on the experience with the NDIS of First Nations people with disability from remote and very remote locations.

Counsel Assisting, Mr Patrick Griffin, noted statistics show First Nations people are accessing the NDIS in fewer numbers than non-First Nations’ people. Applications of First Nations’ people to the Scheme are also less likely to be assessed as eligible, with 66 per cent of First Nation people assessed as eligible compared to 72 per cent of non-First Nations people, he noted.
