Resources to assist providers with the new Quality & Safeguarding arrangements

Providers dealing with the requirements of the NDIS Commission should be aware that both the Commission and National Disability Services have, or are developing, resources which can assist them.  Investigations relating to complaintsNDS understands that many providers are questioning their obligations in situations where the Commission has referred complaints received about the provider’s services back to them for further investigation. As part of the Zero Tolerance initiative, NDS has produced handbooks to assist providers with conducting investigations. While nominally designed for Victorian (PDF | Word) or WA providers (PDF | Word), these handbooks establish core principles for procedurally sound investigations which providers in any jurisdiction can use as a starting point in addressing these situations. Provider Newsletter from the NDIS CommissionThe NDIA provides a web newsletter for providers in order to assist them. The latest newsletter (September) features an interview with Complaints Commissioner Miranda Bruyniks, an update about online reporting using the NDIS Commission Portal and promotion of new and revised factsheets. You can find previous newsletters here.NDS resourcesNDS is seeking providers’ ideas and input regarding resources that will assist providers to understand and meet registration conditions, engage with the NDIS Practice Standards and drive continuous quality improvement. The NDIS Commission has funded NDS through its Support for NDIS Providers Program to engage providers with ideas for resources that will assist them and which they have been unable to locate elsewhere.
