NDIS workforce plan tops list of priorities for WA disability sector

NDS has called on the WA Government to ensure a smooth and successful transition to the NDIS by developing a strong overarching vision in Western Australia.

Providers urged to seek extension to sign leases for NSW State Government Properties under Deed of License or CHP Lease

Accommodation providers operating group homes under deed of license from FACS or CHP leases from the Land and Housing Corporation (LaHC) are being asked to sign leases on these properties that could lock them into paying a rental formula based on assumptions about SDA payments that are inaccurate. As they are written the leases are based on an Annual Rent Formula comprised of three components: 

These terms were clearly designed on the basis of assurances to the NSW state government that every resident of supported accommodation transitioning into the NDIS, would be automatically entitled to a level of SDA payment commensurate with the category of the property in which the resident lives. However, there are several circumstances where accommodation providers may not able to claim the SDA payment for residents and could be at risk of having to fulfil an obligation to pay  thousands of dollars of rent per year from income they are not receiving from those residents. These include:
