Chief Minister Natasha Fyles announced that the vaccination mandate, along with the public health emergency, has now ended.

There are now no mandatory requirements for workers in certain settings across the Northern Territory to be vaccinated against COVID-19. However, vaccination in high-risk settings, such as disability services, is strongly recommended.

Some Chief Health Officer restrictions remain in place. These include:

  • Everyone should use a Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) if they show symptoms
  • It is a legal requirement that people who test positive declare the result. This can be done by using the declaration form
  • People who test positive must isolate for seven days
  • Close contacts must have a RAT within three days and again on day six
  • Face masks must continue to be worn in disability residential facilities
  • Vaccination of workers in high-risk settings is strongly recommended, but not required

Individual organisations or groups can enforce their own vaccination mandates. Northern Territory Government recommends organisation seeks their own legal advice.

NDIS providers can issue exemption letters. If they wish to issue exemptions, NDS advises NDIS providers to develop procedures to this end.
