NSW Work, Health and Safety Update
19/06/2020
Safety Climate ResearchCovid-19 has caused massive disruption but also a renewed need to focus on the health and safety of your workers and participants. Safe Work NSW, in conjunction with Griffith University and the Centre for Work Health and Safety, are developing a free sector-specific safety climate scale for the disability support sector. The safety climate scale measures the presence of safety, and provides businesses with practical actions to be taken to create positive safety capability among workers. This is deemed to be a far more productive metric that focuses on the absence of safety, like lost time injuries. This research can help you plan for the next phase of the pandemic and identify any shortfalls or blind spots in your safety processes.
If you would like to be involved in this project and receive free expert consultation with leading safety scientists and practitioners, you need to email Dr. Tristan Casey by Tuesday, 30 June. More information is available in the Flyer for the Safety Climate Project. Legislation UpdateAmendments to Work Health and Safety Act and Regulation have come into effect from 10 June.
