NDS wants to recognise the people and organisations who are creating more inclusive communities and empowering people with disability. We encourage you to participate and take the opportunity to nominate. 

The Victorian Disability Awards honour the contributions of Victorians who support, lead, educate and advocate for people with disability. The Awards recognise and celebrate the achievements of individuals, teams and organisations that increase the rights and participation of people with disability.

Nominations are open to individuals and groups, including people with disability, family members and volunteers. There are seven categories as follows:

  • Emerging leader award
  • Excellence in creating inclusive communities excellence in employment outcomes
  • Excellence in promoting heath, housing and wellbeing excellence in promoting rights, fairness and safety
  • Volunteer award
  • Lifetime achievement honour roll

Last year’s winners include Dorothy Armstrong, awarded for promoting the rights of women with disability in the criminal justice system, Great Ocean Stays for creating accessible holiday accommodation in Ocean Grove, and Edward (Woody) Marriott for his tireless volunteer advocacy with groups such as Disabled Scouts.

Nominations close on 14 April 2019. Winners will be announced at an awards ceremony in August.
