New NDS Northern Territory office celebrates opening with Minister for Health
3/01/2018
The NDS team in NT was very happy to have its new office at 1 Dashwood Place, Darwin, opened by the Honourable Natasha Fyles MLA, Minister for Health, last week.
Guests at the opening heard from Her Honour the Honourable Vicki O’Halloran, Administrator of the Northern Territory, who spoke about the history of NDS in the Northern Territory and the important role it plays for its members and the wider community.
The Minister for Health supported the relocation, explaining that NDS has positioned the office to be a drop-in hub for advice and support.
People with disability are steadily transitioning to the NDIS, with the full scheme expected to be in place on 1 July 2019. The transition brings with it both opportunities and challenges. Having a readily-accessible location for service providers and individuals to be able to call in is important.
NDS is planning regional workshops in the Northern Territory that will provide practical advice for those transitioning to the NDIS in the state. We will bring you more information on those shortly.
The new office is surrounded by free parking for anyone who wants to drop in or make use of the conference room. The room can be hired by members and non-members.
We look forward to seeing you there!
