NDS is holding a free online session to discuss medication safety. On Wednesday 4 October, the NDS Quality Use of Medications in the Disability Sector Round Table will bring together disability service providers and health professionals from across Australia to discuss many barriers to safe medicine use. The round table will cover prescribing, administration and medication management and possible solutions to improve medication safety for disability services.

The discussion will also contribute to a round table report, which will inform upcoming NDS resource and training development and other activities for disability services. The round table has been designed for disability service providers and staff, including quality and operational managers, disability support workers and allied health professionals.

The forum sessions will include:

• a presentation on legislative frameworks and NDIS guidance for medication safety and management
• the mapping of current medication use and safety in disability services
• the participant experience
• the challenges for organisations and support workers in following best practice medication safety and quality.

The round table is part of the NDS Positive Health Outcomes Project supported by the Australian Government.
