Welcome back to the Monthly Wrap - where we highlight 20 things that NDS has done in the past month to support the sector. This month, top picks include the launch of the NDS Helpdesk, hosting our annual NDIS Essential Briefing series in capital cities across Australia, and meeting with the NDIA to discuss pricing and market stewardship. Explore below:

Over the past month, NDS has:

  1. Held NDIS Essential Briefings in capital cities across Australia to an audience of over 1,400 attendees
  2. Launched the NDS Helpdesk, with 80 per cent of answers to the first 80 questions provided within two days
  3. Released the third edition of the Australian Disability Workforce Report,based on data collected by NDS from 45,000 workers around Australia over almost three years
  4. Polled NDS members on their NDIS policy and operational priorities to inform NDS’s influencing strategy and our sector development activities
  5. Met with the head of the NDIA’s Markets and Providers division to discuss pricing and market stewardship; published answers to members’ questions about the 2018-19 NDIS prices
  6. Been interviewed by ABC TV and radio about the establishment of an NDIS fraud squad
  7. Launched the first ‘NDIS: Make it Work’ community forum in partnership with Every Australian Counts in Western Sydney, New South Wales
  8. Appointed a new position at NDS - National Manager of Quality and Safeguards - in response to the commencement of the new Q&S system in NSW and SA and expected national roll out by 2020
  9. Opened registrations for the Outside the Box conference, a new NDS event dedicated to unpacking the issues of disability housing and workforce solutions, to be held on 10 and 11 September in Sydney
  10. Submitted a response to the Australian Government’s discussion paper, ‘The Next Generation of Employment Services’
  11. Advised the Australian Bureau of Statistics on including more people with disability in the next Household Census
  12. Delivered the NDIS Readiness and Implementation Workshop Series in the final three roll out areas in Victoria - Mallee, Goulburn and Outer Gippsland
  13. Entered into a partnership with facilities management company BGIS to increase procurement opportunities from Disability Enterprises
  14. Launched a new series of films titled 'Safeguarding for Boards', building on the resources available for the sector through Zero Tolerance
  15. Raised concerns about fines under proposed ACT Senior Practitioner legislation, which was noted by all three parties in the ACT Parliament
  16. Facilitated a meeting between the NDIA and WA providers of innovative Individual Supported Living arrangements to improve processes and inform pricing considerations
  17. Kicked off the social procurement training series, which is available free of charge to all Disability Enterprises nationally with thanks to funding from the Department of Social Services
  18. Wrapped up NDP’s first virtual conference, which attracted more than 450 registrants
  19. Celebrated two new milestones for carecareers - 100,000 jobs posted to the job board and 160,000 candidate registrations reached
  20. Appointed Chris Tanti to the position of CEO with NDS as of 12 September 2018
