NDS Communities of Practice discuss health and disability interface
NDS is delighted to report a high level of interest with our five Professional Professional Communities of Practice (CoPs) since their launch in September 2016.
These groups - spanning aspects of service delivery, operations and organisational roles under the NDIS - provide a forum for professionals in the sector to discuss mutual areas of concern and work towards solutions. In doing so, they have fostered support and information sharing during the disruptive transition to the Scheme.
At a recent meeting for the CoP on Working with Clients with Complex Needs, NDS invited the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) Principal Project Manager for Health Transition, Suzanne Vile, to host a discussion on key issues at the interface of disability and health.
Specific topics included providers' experiences of supporting clients to enter into the NDIS and obtain referrals and evidence, complexity around funding for supports by disability versus health systems and what partnerships between disability and health organisations could look like.
Suzanne Vile attended the NDIS and Sector Reform meeting on 22 June. If you would like a copy of the minutes, you can contact Liza Brown-Pinsky on her details below.
