NDS has appointed a Victorian
Quality and Safeguarding Manager, Dave Relf. Dave has extensive experience in
the disability sector and a particular interest in positive behaviour support
and the reduction of restrictive practices for people with disability.
Dave is working alongside Liz
Collier, Project Lead for the Zero Tolerance initiative, to deliver a program focusing
on preparing Victorian disability service
providers for the new NDIS Quality and Safeguarding Framework. The program
builds on existing work to support our sector’s and the Victorian Government's commitment
to a zero tolerance approach to abuse of people with disability through the NDS
Zero Tolerance initiative.Dave and Liz will facilitate a range of activities over the life of the project to inform Victorian disability
service providers about the NDIS Quality and Safeguarding Framework and explore
how existing resources developed as part of the NDS Zero Tolerance Framework
can be used to embed positive work cultures and support service providers to
transition to the new NDIS framework.Activities will include a series of webinars, provider forums and workshops.
These will be supplemented by other information-sharing activities such as news
articles, fact sheets and other materials related to the NDIS Quality and
Safeguarding Framework. Additionally, monthly Community of Practice meetings will commence on 30 of October 2018.
