The Northern Territory Government is seeking comments from disability service providers on a public consultation regarding implementation of the National Code of Conduct for healthcare workers. The consultation is being run by the NT Department of Health and the NT Health and Community Services Complaints Commission.

The NT Government is particularly interested in receiving feedback from the disability services sector in the context of the roll out of the NDIS. A Code of Conduct is proposed for service providers under the NDIS and the NT Government is keen to understand service providers’ views on the relationship between the two Codes.

The Government has circulated an information paper and a response template - available here - and held four information sessions in the lead up to Christmas.

The information paper provides an overview of the National Code of Conduct for health care workers (the Code) not regulated by the National Registration and Accreditation Scheme (NRAS), and provides a basis for consultation on how the Code could work in the Northern Territory.

This is the last opportunity to make a submission or provide feedback. The due date for submissions has been extended to 31 January 2018.

Submissions, comments and feedback can be emailed to .
