Members are advised that an in-principle agreement on an Multi-Employer Agreement (MEA) was reached between negotiators representing employers and unions on 22 February 2018. The in-principle agreement deals with the industrial issues but is subject to the outcome of forthcoming discussions with the Victorian Government regarding a transitional support funding package.

Bargaining is not finished, however this is a very significant milestone.

The proposed package is consistent with the approach endorsed by employers in November 2017 at a meeting convened by Jobs Australia, NDS’s industrial advocate. Jobs Australia has provided a detailed summary of the proposed agreement, together with a one-page outline of how the key provisions align with the objectives that were set at the outset of the process.

The draft MEA is still subject to further refinement of its final wording, however NDS and Jobs Australia are hopeful it will be available at the next meeting of providers, to be held on 9 March.

Details of this meeting are as follows:
Date: Friday, 9 March 2018
Time: 9:30am – 11:30am
Location: International House, 241 Royal Parade, Parkville

NDS members should ensure they are represented at this meeting and are invited to RSVP to Michael Pegg – at - by 8 March 2018. Members should contact Jobs Australia if they are facing difficulties in attending.

At this meeting, a detailed explanation of the proposed agreement will be provided, and there will be an opportunity for discussion and questions.

Jobs Australia anticipates that employers will then need time to digest the information. Jobs Australia will be available for further feedback and questions over the following weeks.
