NDS welcomes the Coalition’s support for people with disability in employment by:

  • Setting an employment target of seven percent by 2025, which would double the number of people with disability employed by Australian Public Service;
  • Providing additional employment support to people with autism, which includes an expansion of the Dandelion Project in partnership with DXC Technology.

NDS is encouraged by other commitments made by the Morrison Government, which were:

  • Ensuring the NDIS is fully funded;
  • Reducing red tape and making it easier to deal with the NDIS through a new NDIS participant planning pathway;
  • Assisting people in rural and remote, CALD communities and ageing parents of children with disability to navigate the NDIS;
  • Introducing a new NDIS Participation Service Guarantee aimed at reducing the time it takes for people with disability to get plans, plan reviews, assistive technology and specialist disability accommodation;
  • Developing a national disability information gateway to make is easier for people with disabilities and their families to locate and get access to services in their communities.

“NDS looks forward to the release of the disability policy positions by the other major parties so we can consider them as a peak body and as a sector, prior to the Federal Election on 18 May,” said Mr Moody.

Disability service providers remain 100 per cent committed to making the Scheme work and absolutely believe it is the right reform for Australia.

“Our focus as the peak body for the not-for-profit, disability service providers has been to get the NDIS on track.

“We are calling on any future federal government to do this in a collaborative way; working with us, people with disability, disability advocacy groups, other governments, and the National Disability Insurance Agency.

“Together we can make the NDIS deliver on its promise,” he said.
